Short-Term Program in Japan for Ukrainian High School Students

Summer 2026

The Short-Term Study and Cultural Exchange Program in Japan invites students from Lviv Budo-kan High School to spend one month in Tokyo in the summer 2026. Through Japanese language classes, homestays, and cultural experiences, the program offers young Ukrainians a chance to engage deeply with Japanese culture and strengthen ties between Japan and Ukraine. It aims to nurture future leaders who will promote mutual understanding and friendship between Ukraine and Japan.

We are seeking sponsors to help Ukrainian students experience Japan and strengthen friendship between our two countries.

About the Program

The Short-Term Study and Cultural Exchange Program in Japan for Ukrainian High School Students is a special project in which students from Lviv Budo-kan High School will spend about two weeks studying in Tokyo in the summer of 2026.

Budo-kan High School is a unique institution in Ukraine that incorporates Japanese-language education, East Asian martial arts, and philosophy into its curriculum. Even during wartime, many of its students continue their studies with a strong sense of hope and admiration for Japanese culture.

During their stay, students will:

  • Take intensive Japanese-language classes

  • Experience homestay with Japanese families

  • Participate in cultural activities such as tea ceremony, kimono dressing, calligraphy, and Aikido

  • Engage in exchange programs with Japanese high schools

  • Take part in excursions and fieldwork around the Tokyo area

Through these experiences, they will encounter the “real Japan” that cannot be learned from textbooks.

Why This Program Matters

This program is more than just a language course.

It is an investment in the next generation who will build the future relationship between Japan and Ukraine.

This experience fosters in the students:

  • A broad worldview through intercultural understanding

  • Leadership rooted in respect for others

  • Deep trust and connection with Japan

  • Motivation to contribute to rebuilding Ukraine after the war

For young people living through unstable times, time spent in Japan holds significant meaning—potentially shaping the direction of their lives.

Request for Support

We are currently seeking sponsors to help ensure that Ukrainian high school students can learn and stay in Japan safely and comfortably.

Your support will cover costs such as airfare, tuition, homestay arrangements, and cultural experience fees. This allows students from families with financial difficulties—who may otherwise be unable to travel abroad—to participate equally.

Please lend your support to help nurture the young generation who will carry the future of both Japan and Ukraine.
