Yuuji Kurokawa

Ambassador Yuuji Kurokawa served as Japan’s Ambassador to Ukraine from 1996 to 1999 and later led Japan’s election observation mission during Ukraine’s 2004 presidential election. As an academic and author, he continues to promote a deep understanding of Ukraine through education, diplomacy, and publishing.
Biography
Kurokawa Yuuji (Japanese: 黒川祐次, くろかわゆうじ; born 1944, Aichi Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese diplomat and academic with extensive experience in international relations and Ukraine-Japan diplomacy.

Born in 1944.
Graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo, specializing in International Relations, in 1967.
Career Highlights
1967: Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
1996–1999: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine.
2004: Retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2004: Head of the Japanese Election Observation Mission for the Ukrainian Presidential Election.
2005–2014: Professor at the Faculty of International Relations and the Graduate School, Nihon University.
