Ukrainian Film Festival 2026

As part of the film festival, you can now watch the following films:

• Their Prayer The film tells the true story of a young Crimean Tatar woman who saved the lives of 88 Jewish children during World War II.

• Palyanytsia The film follows American street artists Bandit and Johnny and videographer Tristan as they travel through Ukrainian cities. The artists create murals on buildings destroyed and damaged by the war, while also witnessing Ukraine’s struggle for independence.

• My Thoughts Are Silent Vadym, a young sound engineer, receives an unusual assignment: to record the voices of animals in Zakarpattia. It could be his chance to leave Ukraine for good and move to Canada, far away from all his problems. His mother becomes his assistant on the project.

• U Are the Universe The film follows Andriy Melnyk, a space trucker who transports nuclear waste. When Earth suddenly explodes, he finds himself alone with a robot named Max. Then he hears the voice of a French woman named Catherine and decides to fly across the galaxy to reach her.

• Honeymoon February 2022, a town near Kyiv. Taras and Olia spend the first night in their new apartment. At dawn, explosions begin. Trapped in their flat with no utilities as Russian troops occupy the building, the couple explores the black abyss of intimacy and faces crucial existential questions in mortal danger.

• We Will Not Fade Away In a bleak wartime setting, five teenagers in the Donbas dream of escaping the war and small-town boredom. Their energy and hope lead them on an unexpected journey to Nepal, where they attempt to conquer their dreams and the world beyond their horizon.

• Family Album British photographer Samara Pearce follows the footsteps of her great-grandfather, Alexander Wienerberger, who captured rare photos of the 1933 Holodomor. Samara returns to the Kharkiv region to document the current war, testifying that the genocide of Ukrainians continues today.

• Malanka and Christmas This film captures the Malanka celebration just before the full-scale invasion and the first Christmas in de-occupied territories. It follows Dmytro Mazuriak, a musician and craftsman of Hutsul instruments, who has spent 15 years preserving this tradition in his village to bring hope through cultural revival.

• Second Wind The film tells the story of a group of Ukrainian veterans with amputations who climbed the famous Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.

• Animals in War ANIMALS IN WAR is a unique anthology based on true stories of animals affected by the war in Ukraine. Through seven novellas featuring a rabbit, a wolf, and a cow, the project portrays the humanitarian and ecological catastrophe through the perspective of the powerless.

• The Underground Garden The film tells the story of “Aza Nizi Maza,” a children’s art studio in Kharkiv that continues to operate in a bomb shelter during the full-scale war. The film shows how children create bright and hopeful art despite the darkness and air-raid sirens, turning creativity into a means of survival amid the horrors of war.
