Hosei Diversity Weeks 2025: Day 3 – “Discover Ukraine”

16/12/25, 03:00

The third and final day of the collaborative event series between the Hosei University DEI Center and Ukraine House Japan, held as part of the series “Discover Ukraine: Experience Ukrainian Art and Culture”, has successfully concluded!

On December 10, we continued the theme introduced in the previous exhibitions. This time, participants had the opportunity to watch several short animated films from “Green Penguin” agency’s Travel Book: Ukraine series, dedicated to the history of Ukraine. The screening was accompanied by commentary, a presentation, and a discussion led by Anastasiia, a doctoral student at Hosei University and a member of Ukraine House Japan.

In addition to the animations, we introduced guests to basic facts about Ukraine, shared stories about Ukrainian winter holidays and their traditions. We wrapped up the event on a warm note by learning how to greet each other during the holiday season in Ukrainian. Now anyone can say to Ukrainians around them: “Вітаю зі святом! (Happy holiday!)” or “З Різдвом! (Merry Christmas!)” - in our native language.

💛💙

We express our sincere gratitude to the Hosei University DEI Center and the university as a whole for organizing HOSEI DIVERSITY WEEKs 2025 - an initiative that fosters collaboration, dialogue, and mutual understanding. It was an honor to present Ukrainian culture as a part of this wonderful event.

Special thanks go to Ms. Mayumi Kato, whose ongoing support of Ukraine and dedication to introducing Ukrainian culture to Japan made it possible for the animations to receive Japanese subtitles. We also extend our gratitude to the “Green Penguin” agency for creating vivid, educational, and accessible films that help people  around the world discover Ukraine.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. More events, connections, and warm moments are yet to come!
