30/10/26, 12:00
Golden and crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with a creamy mushroom sauce — meet deruny, one of Ukraine’s most beloved home-cooked dishes!

The fourth episode of Liia’s Kitchen | ウクライナのふるさとの味 is now available on YouTube.
This time, Liia introduces us to deruny, traditional Ukrainian potato pancakes that have been enjoyed by generations of families. Made with just a few simple ingredients, deruny are a wonderful example of how Ukrainian home cooking transforms everyday products into something delicious and comforting.
In the episode, Liia guides us through the entire cooking process: preparing a rich mushroom cream sauce, grating and mixing the potatoes, and frying the pancakes until beautifully golden. There is even a heart-shaped derun!
Deruny are especially wonderful when served hot, straight from the pan, with sour cream or mushroom sauce. Every family has its own little secrets for making them, and that is part of the charm of Ukrainian cuisine.
The best part? You can find everything you need in an ordinary Japanese supermarket. We hope this episode inspires you to bring a little taste of Ukraine into your own kitchen.
Smachnoho! (Enjoy your meal!)
