The KOI Program: Building the Next Generation of Japan–Ukraine Connections

24/10/26, 12:00

In the summer of 2026, nine high school students and two teachers from the Budokan School in Lviv, Ukraine, spent three weeks in Japan as part of the first KOI educational exchange program.

Through Japanese-language studies, school exchanges, martial arts, cultural activities, and visits to local institutions, the students gained firsthand experience of Japanese society and built meaningful connections. All participants returned safely to Ukraine, and the first edition of the program has now successfully concluded.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all donors, sponsors, educational institutions, and partners who made this opportunity possible.

Preparations for KOI 2027 are already underway.

The program aims to go beyond a single study trip and help nurture lasting relationships between young people who will shape Japan–Ukraine cooperation over the next 10 to 20 years.

Ukraine House Japan is proud to continue supporting this initiative, founded and led by Mariya Koropenko, as its official supporting organization.

We invite you to join us in making the 2027 program possible.
