Recently, we announced that something special related to Ukrainian cuisine was on its way. Today, we are delighted to reveal its name and give you a first taste of what awaits.
Meet Liia's Kitchen — Ukrainian Home Flavors.
This new YouTube podcast will invite viewers into the world of Ukrainian home cooking — not only through recipes, but also through the stories, memories, traditions, and people behind them. Food has always been one of the most heartfelt ways of sharing culture, and through this project we hope to bring Ukraine a little closer to Japan.
In each episode, we will explore dishes that generations of Ukrainians have prepared in their homes, talk about regional traditions, ingredients, family customs, and the role that food plays in everyday life and celebrations. We hope that many of our Japanese friends will discover new flavors, while those already familiar with Ukraine will find something nostalgic and meaningful.
The name of the podcast is connected to the name of its host, Liia. After moving to Japan because of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, she has continued to find new ways to stay connected to her homeland. Some of them begin with simple things — with the flavors of home, which can tell far more than they seem at first glance.
For now, we are sharing only a small part of the story.
The kitchen is getting ready, the conversations are about to begin, and the first episode is on its way.
