A Long-standing Friendship with Kodaira
Although Ukraine House Japan is a newly born non-profit organization, its representative has long been connected with Kodaira City and the Kodaira International Friendship Association (KIFA) through many years of cultural collaboration and friendship.
Our shared story began in 2010, when Ukrainian traditional art Pysanky was first presented at the International Exhibition in Kodaira. Since then, we have organized two multi-session traditional craft courses, and in March 2022, with the support of KIFA, we held a two-day exhibition of Traditional Ukrainian Arts and several lectures dedicated to Ukraine. These events, organized by KIFA in solidarity with Ukraine, gathered warm support from the local community and raised more than 600,000 yen in donations.
In July 2022, thanks to the cooperation of KIFA, Kodaira City, and the heartfelt assistance of Ms. Yoko Takei, and in partnership with Ukrainian organizations in Tokyo, we co-organized a summer festival that brought together many Kodaira residents and Ukrainians who had newly arrived in Japan as refugees of the war.
With sincere gratitude to KIFA, Kodaira City, and Ms. Yoko Takei, we at Ukraine House Japan deeply value the trust and friendship built over the years. As a new organization, we are honored to carry this connection forward and will continue working to strengthen the bonds of understanding and friendship between our communities.
